How to get my Named Transformation into the Derived Presets

I made a custom named transformation; that seems ok but when I go into my Media Library and click on edit an image when it opens and I click on the Derived Images it does not show as a Derived Image; yet when I'm in Media Library and double click on the image it opens and I can see the Transformation Presets.

Is this normal? Maybe a Named Transformation does not show in the 'Derived Images'? Am I correct in this?

Also * I read this in the Docs:

" Automatic format

The automatic format transformation parameter (f_auto) is not effective if used in named transformations.

When f_auto is used in a delivery URL, the CDN layer determines the best format to deliver. If this parameter is hidden in a named transformation then it is not visible to the CDN.

You can use f_auto together with a named transformation by chaining the components, for example, t_square/f_auto. "

Am I confused?

THANK YOU :)

    Hi there,

Thanks so much for reaching out.

When you click on an image, the transformation presets you see at the bottom are just there to show you the options that you have as named transformations. Creating a named transformation does not automatically create a derived version of an asset. Not until you apply that transformation and open the URL. At that point, the derived version is created and a transformation is applied to your quota.

What you have done with f_auto/t_square is exactly correct. Let me know if you understand why, or if you would like more clarification on that.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to ask.

    Kind Regards,

    Tia

@tia Ok great so I have applied a named Transformation and opened the URL; so now will it show up as a Derived Transformation? I guess it's not necessary just trying to figure it out :)

*** Ok so this is prob not your issue but for some reason I'm unable to log into my Normal (non-community one) Cloudinary accout. I've never had that issue before also when I do the reset password it never shows up in my email; and I've had my Cloudinary account for a long time... can you help or advise me in any way? My Login has never changed; yet today I can't gain access... so odd!

    Hi there,

I'm sorry for the extremely delayed response. You are correct in that once you apply a named transformation and open that up in the browser, it will show up as a derived version of the original.

If you still have questions related to this, just let me know 😊

    Kind Regards,

    Tia
