Background swap on any video

I have yet to find a way to easily remove the background from a video so we can then replace that background with any image. Our use case is like most mobile apps where users can easily change out the background behind them. And No - I do not want to force our users to film on a greenscreen. Let me know if this is on the roadmap OR there is a partner for this?? Thank you

    You can then use the  l_<image id> in the Cloudinary URL syntax to add a background image to a video.

    Mo- thats not exactly our use case. According to that tutorial, you must overlay the video on top of a base video.. which is very odd.. We simply want our app users to choose or upload a static image to use as their background. Make sense? We can do this currently but only if user films on a green-screen.. surely there is a solution for this - even if from a 3rd party?

    Hey Roger,

    The instructions that Mo sent are the steps required to accomplish what you are looking for.

    You'll need to follow the instructions to remove the background then you are able to layer the image that your user uploads to set as the background. The overlaying of videos is a requirement on the Cloudinary platform.

    The problem is that you must film the original video with a solid BG color.. this is very inconvenient to users as it forces them to use a screen.

    Hi Roger.

    I appreciate that it's less than ideal, but at this moment in time, it's the only way we can achieve the affect you're looking for. We're continually improving our transformation offerings though, so hopefully at some point in the future we'll be able to swap a background out on any video, regardless of the usage of a green screen.
